Does this fleece vest completely replace a separate harness?
Yes, completely. The harness is built directly into the structure of the vest, load-bearing webbing with both a back V-ring and a front chest attachment point. Put it on, clip your lead, and go. No separate harness needed underneath.

What is the difference between a vest-style dog coat and a full-coverage jacket?
The sleeveless construction maximises mobility and ventilation, and suits dogs with broad shoulders or deep chests where a sleeved jacket can be a challenge to fit. The Timberline sits over the hips and thighs for coverage where it counts, without restricting stride. Stretch leg loops keep it flush to the body so it stays put through the undergrowth rather than riding up. Can a fleece dog harness vest handle rain, or will it soak through?
The main body is 380g polyester fleece - built for warmth, not waterproofing. But the back and belly panels are reinforced with a rugged 600 denier oxford shell with a weather-resistant finish, so light drizzle and wet undergrowth are handled without soaking through. It'll manage a damp British morning with ease. For proper downpours, a fully waterproof dog coat worn over the top is the better call.
How do the dual light loops work for low-light safety?
The Timberline has two dedicated loops - one on the chest, one on the back - so you can clip your Beacon safety light wherever it suits your walking style. Front clip for dogs who lead the way, back clip for dogs who walk at heel. Either way, the reflective trim catches headlights instantly, making it a solid setup for those early autumn evenings when the light drops faster than you expected.
